Michigan Mini Medical Schools

Each year, the Advocates for the American Osteopathic Association funds Special Projects across the country. These projects all promote the osteopathic medical field in one way or another, bringing awareness to what our osteopathic physicians do. One of the special projects funded this year made the news thanks to their creativity in building mini medical schools for elementary age children.Mini medical schools are found throughout the state of Michigan, sponsored by the Michigan Osteopathic Association as well as the Advocates for the Michigan Osteopathic Association. The lesson topics range all the way from body health and basic anatomy to a look at possible health careers. The promising side effect is providing comfort levels to the children involved when visiting their doctor’s office.
